Big News

  Phil 4:6-7(NKJV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

During the last few months we have had an opportunity to volunteer at a local children’s home. They are wanting to move the children to another house that has a much bigger yard. However, the home was in need of some repairs so we have been trying to get the house ready. This has been a great opportunity to bless another ministry with John’s handyman skills.

After a month break we have started giving away food bags to needy families. This time we are looking for families that we can build relationships with. The first family that we helped had been asking God to send some missionaries that they could study the Bible with like they used to do in Nicaragua. Needless to say they were happy to met us and we have now started a weekly Bible study. This family is also helping us find other families in need.

During the last month we have given away 18 bags of food. We are so thankful for your continued support as this allows us to give away more food. This has been a great way for us to show the love of Jesus and we are looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in these families.

More Exciting News

We finally received another call from the prison in regards to one of the single moms that we have been helping. The person who called was from the Departamento de Orientación (this is kinda like the parole department) and she needed us to send her some additional information and that once they reviewed the information this single mom would finally be getting out of prison, most likely sometime in October. We are so excited to have finally received an estimated month of when she will be getting out. It is now time for us to start Phase 2 shopping.

If you remember we had 2 phases of things that we needed to buy. Thank God Phase 1 has been completely bought and we now need to start on Phase 2.

Phase 2 is a list of things that we need to get ready for our first single mom’s home to be up and running. Because our first family will be living with us temporarily the most important items that we need are beds, mattresses, sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels for 8 people. The cost of these items is between $3000-$3500. Overwhelmed by the goodness of God

Another big expense that we had was our yearly health insurance bill. This year the amount we had to pay was over $5700. We wanted to pay the bill in 2 installments, but then we would have had to pay an extra $500-$600. So after praying about it we decided to just put the whole amount on our credit card and trust God that we would be able to pay the bill off in full. We are so blown away by God’s goodness because right now we are only about $1000 away from paying the whole bill off. We still have until around September 5th to pay the bill off without getting any interest charges and we believe that God will provide the additional amount needed.

Cindy and some of our local friends recently translated our mission/vision statement into Spanish and we gave a copy of this to our landlord. When he saw it he said that he really liked it and that he had an idea that could help us. He offered to fence in all of his property and build additional houses as we needed them. He would assume all of the expenses of building the houses, getting the permits etc and then when finished we would pay him rent. We told him that we wanted a more basic style house for our single moms and he said “ no problem”. We also told him that we needed to pray about it and talk to our board.

After we prayed we really felt like God was saying that we should do this. The next step was contacting our board members and they all agreed that this was God’s favor and that we should proceed. We are excited to announce that after rainy season (probably January) our first single mom’s home will be getting built.

It is exciting to see our dream of a home for single mother’s starting to happen, but at the same time we are a bit nervous. Not only will our expenses increase each month, as we have single mom’s and their children to provide for, but we must also pay additional rent and utilities for each new house. However, when God is telling you to do something you must be obedient. Stepping out in faith can be scary, but when God is on your side ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Matt 19:26.

Currently, we have a total of 3 single mom’s that have asked for our help. The first mom that we are helping has 7 children, and the 2 moms that are on our waiting listing have a total of 6 children. If God makes a way for us to help all three of these moms that would be an additional 16 people to provide for. |FNAME|* we would appreciate your prayers for this next step and for God’s continued guidance. What we are doing here would be impossible without all of your love, prayers and financial support.

Psalms 118:24(NKJV) This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Jeremiah 17:7-8(NIV) But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green, it has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
