Trusting God
First of all we would like to say sorry for not writing to you sooner. We also pray that this newsletter finds you doing well. During the last few months we have really felt God leading us into total and complete surrender to Him. That we must be obedient to Him in all areas of our lives and do what He is calling us to do. Right now God is saying that we are in a season of rest, restoration and a time of visiting family. During this season God will reveal what our next assignment will be. We believe that our next season is going to be one like no other and we can’t wait to see what is in store for us next.
2 Corinthians 10:4,5 (NKJV) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ
Costa Rica
During the months of July and August we felt like we needed to visit all of the wonderful local friends that we have made over the years. Unfortunately, due to driving restrictions and John getting sick we were not able to visit as many as we would of liked. In fact, John was sick for almost a month. Thank God he tested negative for COVID, but he did have a very bad bout of bronchitis and it did take him a long time to completely recover from it.
We also had the honor and privilege of opening up our home to a lady from Nicaragua who is one of the tias (aunts) at the children’s home that we have been helping off and on. Her old landlord needed the apartment for a family member and she was unable to find a place that she could afford. She sends a good portion of her salary back to Nicaragua to help take care of her elderly mother, so it is hard for her to find something that she could afford. One day she asked us if she could move in with us. Because we were still living in our rental that was to be our single mom’s house we had plenty of space. So how could we say no. Plus we really enjoyed getting to know her and she has become like family to us.
Right before we returned to the states the children from the children’s home surprised us with a Hasta luego ( see you later) party. One of the tias made empanadas and all of the kids made us home made cards. It was such a sweet time. Please pray for the staff and the children at this children’s home.
United States
On August 25th we finally returned to the states after 19 months. This is the longest that we have been away so it was good to return. We arrived in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and where able to visit our son and future daughter in law. Then we headed to Georgia to visit with Cindy’s mom and to do some work for the widows and elderly.
In the beginning of October we started out on a road trip to see John’s family and some supporters in North Carolina and then we were going to make our way to Ohio to visit a church. Unfortunately, we only made it to Charlotte NC when we had to turn around and head back to Georgia. Cindy had to go to the emergency room in Charlotte because she was having pain below her sternum. We first went to an urgent care, but they said it sounded like it could be something with her heart and that we needed to go to the emergency room. Thank God there is nothing wrong with Cindy’s heart, but they discovered that she has gallstones and said that her gallbladder needs to come out. Thank God it did not need to be done as an emergency and we were able to return to Georgia for her to have the surgery. Cindy’s surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, October 29th and we would greatly appreciate your prayers.
After Cindy recovers from her surgery we will go back to North Carolina to visit with John’s family. We also will be heading out to Texas for our son’s wedding on December 4th.
We are so very grateful for your continued prayers, love and support. We really could not do what we are doing without it.
Psalms 118:24(NKJV) This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Matthew 19:26(AMP) With God ALL things are possible.
Lots of Love and Blessings,
