Urgent prayer request/needs

On Monday, November 14 we received some very sad news. Two grandchildren of the family in Costa Rica that we have been helping were abandoned by their mom in Nicaragua. Their mom and her sister decided to join a caravan on their way to the United States. These precious children have been left in the hands of their mom’s boyfriend. The girl has been sexually molested by a previous boyfriend and her brother witnessed this attack on his sister. These children have been through so much in their young lives, but thank GOD we have been given the opportunity to help these precious children.

As you know from newsletters in the past, the family (their grandparents and brother) that we have been helping have very little money which is why we continue to help them with food and other necessities but they want the children to come and live with them. It will not be easy for them, but they want these children to know that they are loved and that they belong.

We are committed to helping these children have better lives and we have already sent money for bus fares and other expenses for the grandmother to go and bring the children back to Costa Rica, but we can’t do this by ourselves and we need your help. Right now the family lives in a tin house next to a chicken coop and they really need to find a better place to live. Not only do they need more space because of the additional children, but they need a better house that will help with the health of the grandfather. The children will also need clothes, shoes, school uniforms, and of course we will have to help them out with more food. We are estimating that the monthly expenses to help this family will be around $900 ($500 for rent, $100 for utilities and $300 for food). On top of their monthly expenses we will need about $400 to buy them clothes, shoes, and school uniforms and we would also like to have around $200 to buy Christmas gifts for the family. We know that costs have increased for everyone and we are asking that you pray about helping this family. Whether you can help out on a monthly basis, a one time donation, or just commit to praying for this family anything will help.

Some questions probably are crossing your mind right now such as: 1. How are you going to make sure the money goes to what you are saying since you guys aren’t living in Costa Rica? 2. Are you going to give the money to the family and trust them to do the right thing? Those are very good questions and we want you to know that we do trust this family, but also know that temptation is a very real thing. We want to assure you that the money will not go directly to them. We have a missionary friend in Costa Rica that has been doing the shopping for us. We have talked to her and she has agreed to take on the responsibility of taking them shopping for clothes, paying the rent, utilities and continuing with the food shopping but now on a bigger scale. She will continue to take pictures of receipts and send them to us for our records. She has truly been a huge blessing to us this past year and we are so grateful that she has agreed to help us out even more.

We have tried to cover everything, but if you have questions or concerns please reach us to us. Click here to send us an email. Thank you in advance for your praying.

***** We want to thank you for all of the prayers while we were in Haiti we sure could feel them. We will give an update on our trip to Haiti in a future newsletter, but felt the situation with the children was a priority. Thank you for understanding and for your love, prayers and financial support. ************* Psalms 118:24(NKJV) This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Ways you can help

One of the most important things we need is prayer, so we would appreciate your prayers as we adjust to living all together and for wisdom as we are still learning how to build this single mom’s house on a strong foundation. Also once people feel comfortable traveling again we will be welcoming teams. Some of the things that we need teams to do are: repair projects, Bible studies, playing with the kids etc. We are also working on a sponsorship program. This will allow you to sponsor things like birthday parties, Christmas gifts, school supplies, salaries for the moms, rent etc. If you would like more information about coming to volunteer or our sponsorship program please send us an email.

We are so very grateful for your continued prayers and support. We could not do what we do without you.

Matthew 19:26(AMP) With God ALL things are possible.

Jeremiah 17:7-8(NIV) But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green, it has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

Lots of Love and Blessings,

Answered prayers:

John’s mom CT showed 2 tumors had totally disappeared and the other 2 are shrinking. Praise God! God is opening up new doors for us and has provided some handyman jobs for John to help with our needs. Recently He provided jobs that helped with the funds to get the kids from Nicaragua to Costa Rica.
