Psalms 121:1-2 (AMP) I will lift up my eyes to the hills (of Jerusalem) - From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

If you remember from our last newsletter, we wrote about our single mom finally getting out of jail sometime in October. Unfortunately October has come and gone and she has not yet been released. One of the reasons that she has not been released is because her whole cell block was in quarantine for about 5 weeks because of an outbreak of COVID. The officials at the jail have also said that they will start allowing visitors the first week of December. As of now we are unclear if they will go back to the normal visiting schedule or if they have made changes due to COVID.

About 4 weeks ago Cindy received a call from a division of the parole department and the lady said that she should be released after her quarantine. Since she is no longer in quarantine, we reached out to this lady and she told us that her case has been submitted to the judge and that all of the necessary paperwork is there, but we have to wait on the judge’s ruling. She said that this process could take between 2-6 months, but if the judge ruled in her favor then our single mom would have a date of when she is finally being released. We are praying that she will be released before Christmas and that the judge will move rapidly and in her favor. Would you please agree with us on this prayer request? Our single mom has been in the process of release since August 2019 and we have been trying to help her since April of this year.

Because of how slow things move here we often have to remind ourselves that God is in control of every situation and we just need to trust Him.

Isaiah 26:4 (ESV) Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

Staying busy

We are continuing to stay busy with the preparation of getting our single mom’s house up and running. Because the cost of furniture is so expensive, John has decided to build some of the furniture that we need. He and a local friend of ours built 2 sets of bunk beds, 1 single bed, and 2 tico style closets. Currently John is working on building a table big enough to seat 10 people. After the table, he will start working on some shelves for the bathroom and maybe even another sofa. God has truly blessed John with a talent for building things and this has been a great way for John to keep busy and at the same time save us money.

Cindy is continuing with her cookie/baking ministry. She has been working on new recipes and is looking forward to when our single mom will be able to work with her. She actually thinks that she will be able to sell Cindy’s cookies so we are hoping and praying that this will become a good business opportunity for her. Recently, we were blessed by a donation from a church in Georgia that allowed us to purchase a good quality stand mixer. This allows Cindy to make a large batch of cookie dough at one time (10 dozen cookies) which of course saves time. Cindy is planning on making a bunch of Christmas cookies to put in our Christmas food boxes that we will be giving away. So this mixer will definitely come in handy when she does that.

Speaking of Christmas, we can hardly believe that it is less than 5 weeks away. Hopefully our single mom will be out of prison by then and we will have some if not all of her children here to celebrate with. This year we will be buying gifts for 12 children. A Christmas tradition here in Costa Rica is to celebrate with grapes, apples, and beef or chicken tamales, so during the month of December we will include the fruit and supplies needed to make the tamales in the food boxes that we are continuing to give away to families in need.

My Greenrefills has again partnered with us to raise money. This time we have 4 ways that they are helping us. By purchasing either their all natural hand soap, hand sanitizer, laundry machine cleaner, and/or laundry soap we will receive $15-$17 from every purchase. This money will be used to buy all of the extra things that we will be putting in the Christmas food boxes. If you are wanting to support us through this promotion you must order from the links directly below as this is the only way we will get credit.

Psalms 118:24(NKJV) This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Jeremiah 17:7-8(NIV) But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green, it has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
