Trusting in God and following His leading
We pray that this newsletter finds you and your family doing very well. We also want to say “thank you” for all of your continued prayers, love and financial support. We want you to know how much we appreciate you and that you are a part of everything that we do.
Since leaving Costa Rica, we have been praying about what our next steps are to be. We knew that while John’s dad was sick we needed to stay in the states, but since his passing we have been asking what should we do next. At this time, we feel that we are to divide our time between The States and Costa Rica.
While we are in the states we will be focusing on two areas. During the last few months God has been opening up doors for us to minister to the elderly by helping them with home repairs. We have done things like replacing old worn out floors, replacing door seals, fixing electrical issues and much more. Word is getting around that John, with Holy Spirit guidance, can fix almost anything. So we are staying busy.
Secondly, we felt like we needed to come up with a way to help with the rising cost of ministry expenses. So, we have started an aerial photography business called “Wings Like Eagles”. We are using drones to take amazing aerial photography and a portion of all proceeds goes back to help with ministry expenses.
When we are in Costa Rica, we will continue ministering to the families that we have worked with for the past 5 1/2 years in Playas Del Coco and we will also work with a local Pastor friend of ours. Also, God has also opened up a new door to ministry in a different part of Costa Rica called La Fortuna.
We will continue to make regular trips to Costa Rica by ourselves, but we will also be taking teams from the states to help us minster. This year we have two different teams going with a possible of a third team. The first trip is in August and we are leading a team from Ohio. The second trip will be in November with our local church family. The trip in August is completely full, but we do have space on the November trip, if anyone is interesting in joining us on the November trip or would like to join us on a future trip or bring a group from your church please send us a request
We have recently returned from a trip to Costa Rica. On our latest trip to Costa Rica we were able to visit with a couple of the moms that are in prison, visit with Grandma and the kids that she has, plan for the upcoming trips in August and November and visit with some of our local friends.
The moms in prison really seem to be working to change their lives. They both have been studying hard to get their high school diplomas. We were really excited to hear that they were working towards this. Because without their high school diplomas they would not be able to get a job. In fact, one mom will be graduating in May and the other one will be graduating in June. We pray, that they will be released soon after graduating and will then be able to work on getting their children back.
The moms are able to visit their children about every three weeks and they told us that their children are doing well. One of the moms brought us a letter from her oldest daughter. We were so excited to finally receive word directly from one of the kids. The only way we can communicate with the kids is by sending a letter to their moms and then the moms take our letters with them when they go and visit. It is not much, but at least it is something.
We also would like to ask you to pray about helping financially with one of the moms. This mom has seven children and when she gets out of prison she must first have a 3-4 bedroom house in order for her to get her children back. A house of that size will cost her more than she would make in a month. We are really feeling that God wants us to help with this situation. We are looking into different options right now, but if you feel God stirring you to help with this family please send us an email and we will give you more information
When we visited with grandma and the children that she has, we found them doing well. We were able to take them food and buy needed school uniforms for some of the kids. We also had a chance to celebrate two of the children’s birthdays. We were able to make their birthdays special by having a little birthday party for them complete with a birthday cake
Again we want to thank you for your support. Even while we are stateside, we continue to ministry to the families in Costa Rica with weekly phone calls and we have groceries delivered to them about once a month.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6
With God ALL things are possible. Matt 19:26
