Continuing to follow God’s leadIng
During the last few months we have been continuing to stay busy with all that God has put in front of us. We have been finding that there are people in need wherever we go and we are open to whatever God wants us to do.
News from The States
uring the last few months we have been continuing to keep busy with the ministry to the elderly. These last few months have involved fixing or replacing light fixtures, a small plumbing job and a few other odd jobs. John also got a chance to fly his drone over a metal roof to see where it was leaking. John found that a screw was missing and the owner of the house was able to replace the screw. By flying his drone he was able to save the gentlemen some time finding the leak. We were not able to do all of the projects that people were wanting us to do, because John hurt his back and was put out of commission for over 2 weeks. Thank God His back is healed now and John is no longer in any pain.
Once John’s back was healed, God opened up a door for us to go to Ohio and help minster to some of the Amish in that community. Our good missionary friends that we met in Costa Rica had recently started working with the Amish there, so we went to see how we could help. We got to minister to both Amish and ex-Amish couples. We learned how they are persecuted when they choose to leave the Amish community and we were even taken on an Amish buggy ride. We also were able to work with some of their children.
Another opportunity that God may be opening up for us is to work alongside a church in Elk Creek, VA, helping them with a summer camp that they started in 2018. The first year of camp they had about 80 children and this year they had over 200. As you can imagine, the church is in need of more help especially since the church is made up of an elderly population. We will be going to VA for 2 weeks in September to see how we can help for next summer.
Costa Rica
We are getting ready to take a team from Ohio to Costa Rica August 17-24 and we would appreciate your prayers. We will be ministering in a new area of Costa Rica, for us. We will be working on repairing an elderly gentlemen’s house, going to a precario ( squatter’s village), painting and putting out trash barrels alongside a road. Of course a possibility of a few other things. Please pray for the safety and health of the team, unity in the team, that we will have more than enough funds to cover the cost of the projects and for safe and timely flights.
Update on the moms in prison
We are happy to report that one of the moms was released from prison a few weeks ago. This was the youngest mom and Grandma was keeping her children. She is currently living with Grandma and has just had her fourth baby. Maybe conjugal visits weren’t a good idea and it now seems that this mom won’t be able to work and her boyfriend is not working much either. Please pray for them.
The other moms are still in prison, but we heard that they might be getting out in August. The moms are still getting to see their children about every 3 weeks and they were even able to send us pictures of the kids. We were so happy to finally be able to see the kids after almost a year. The kids have grown a lot and seem to be doing well. Of course, we would of liked to see them in person, but we will have to take what we can get.
Mozambique
We also wanted to let you know that we are grandparents. Our spiritual son and his wife had their first child. Thankfully she didn’t go into labor until the cyclone passed and things were starting to return to normal. Our grandson’s name is Jonah David Albino and he was born on June 6, 2019 weighing in at almost 9 pounds. Cindy had the honor of giving him the name Jonah.
We continue to follow God’s leading for our lives!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6
With God ALL things are possible. Matt 19:26
