A LOT OF CHANGES

The last couple of months have been very difficult and filled with many challenges. We will do our best to explain what has happened, but as always please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

We are very saddened to have to inform you that the single mom and her seven children decided to leave our home. The family has been gone for about three weeks and we have been seeking God for healing.

During the last couple of months things had started to go downhill with the single mom. It seems that she was willing to change for about the first month, but after that things started to change. She was no longer as willing to help us or to take care of her children. In fact, she was having the older two children take on more and more responsibility of the younger children. She was complaining that she never had anytime to herself and that her children were always wanting to be around her and that she had the same old routine. She also wanted to be out at night and was not happy when we told her that she had to be home before dark.

To us it seemed like she was wanting to return to her old way of living. During our weekly meetings we had been trying to disciple her, but things never seemed to last more than a day. We could tell that things were not changing and we were asking God to give us a plan of action. God showed us what we needed to do and we knew that if she really wanted to change she would be on board with this plan. However, at our last meeting we were never able to present her these ideas. She had already made the decision that they were leaving. She said that she didn’t want to follow our rules and basically it was all our fault.

We are saddened that she made the decision to leave, but just like God gives us free will we must allow her to make her own decisions. What hurts us the most is that they ended up stealing from us. They did not steal money, but stole all the sheets, pillows, blankets, towels that we had bought for them to use. They also stole things like soap, toilet paper etc. We are saddened that after working with this family for seven years it ended in this way. However, we are thankful that we were here when they left or they probably would of stole a lot more things. However, there are so many things to be thankful to God for and we know that we did everything that He asked us to do.

What we are doing now

You maybe wondering what we are going to do next and that is a good question. First, we are going to take sometime to process all that has happened and seek God for healing. Secondly, we had started giving away a few food boxes the end of February, so we will continue to do that. Thirdly, the house that we are currently renting is up for sale. Because the house is owned by another ministry, we feel like God is wanting us to help them get the house ready to sell. We will be doing mostly painting, but also some drywall repair. Fourthly, we now have the time to take care of some appointments that we had been neglecting because we couldn't seem to find the time. Appointments like having our eyes examined and going to the dentist. Thankfully, these things cost less here in Costa Rica than in the USA so this is a perfect time to get these things taken care of. Lastly, we are seeking God on what He wants us to do next. We would really appreciate your prayers as we continue on this journey.

Psalms 118:24(NKJV) This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Matthew 19:26(AMP) With God ALL things are possible.

John teaching some of the kids how to make tortillas

This is one of the families that we help on a regular basis. He has lupus and normally works in the fields. However, the doctors have told him that he can no longer do this if he wants to live. Please pray for his healing and for God to supply all of their needs.

He wanted a Batman suit for Christmas!

Prayer Requests

  • For our next step and for us to hear clearly from God
  • For our dear friend’s granddaughter who was sexually abused by the boyfriend of her mom
  • For our friend to be healed of lupus
  • For all of our financial needs.
  • For God's continued peace, strength and wisdom as we continue to minister here.

Answered prayers:

Because of your generous support we have been able to give our friend the money that she needed so she can go to Nicaragua and get her granddaughter that was sexually abused. This precious girl is only 4 years old and she had been praying and asking God to help her grandmother come and get her.
