Buenos (Greetings),
This last month in Costa Rica has been an interesting one and has brought us many firsts. FIRST VISITOR
We were honored to have our very first visitor from the states, John’s mom. It was such a privilege to host her for a week. Because she rented a car while she was here we were able to take her to the many different places that she wanted to see. This also enabled us to see how differently people live outside of the city. During our drives it was being confirmed that there are many areas of Costa Rica that HE wants us to explore so, we will find that one place that HE is calling us to settle down in. We really want to thank John’s mom for the opportunity to be able to see such much of Costa Rica while she was here.
FREEDOM STREET MINISTRIES
Another first for us was working with a local ministry called, Freedom Streets. Freedom Streets Ministry has been here for the last 3 years and they are working with the girls and boys that are involved in prostitution. They drive around on Saturday nights looking for the prostitutes and then they stop and get out and talk to them. They also serve them coffee or cold tea and cookies. This is a great way to break the ice and to get them to talk to us. On this trip we found out that most of the prostitutes have been spit on by people passing by and called some very horrific names. Just because people are doing something that we believe to be wrong does not give us permission to do such acts. We are called to love on everyone and try to see them the way Jesus sees them.
We were also able to go with Freedom Street Ministry to take part in their bi-weekly prayer vigil. This prayer vigil is held at one of the largest brothels in San Jose. We simply just stand on the street corner and pray and watch and see what Papa God does. We have seen Johns, (the buyers), stop in their track as if their feet are frozen and can’t move forward for 5 minutes or more. We have drug dealers come up to us and greet us and say that they are happy that we are there. Del Rey means of The King so we believe that this hotel will no longer be used for what it is being used for, but will be used for the one true King. |
WEBSITE
Our website is finally finished and we are really excited about it. John worked long and hard to get the website up and running. This is just the start but we are so happy to have it up finally. Please go and check it out at www.lovechangesall.org
T-SHIRTS
We are taking orders for t-shirts. All money raised from the sale of the t-shirts will be used for our much-needed car. Also, by wearing one of our t-shirts it will help raise awareness about what we are doing in Costa Rica as the t-shirt is going to be a great conversation starter. The suggested donation is $20 per shirt plus postage if we need to ship it to you. You can order them by sending me an email, posting to our link on Facebook, or sending us a text. Please let us know what size you are wanting as we want to get our order in by May 14th.
Finally, we will be stateside from May 14 until approximately July 9th. While home we will be renewing our passports and working on getting all of the paperwork together for our residency in Costa Rica. We would love to see as many of you as possible while we are home. If you would like for us to share at your church, home group, youth group or even if you want to get together for chicken sandwiches at Chick Fil A (yes I, Cindy, have been missing that place however, John has been missing chicken wings) then please contact us right away so we can get you on our schedule.
We also want to thank each and every one of you who has partnered with us. We are so grateful for all of you!!!
We love you
John and Cindy
