Love Changes All

John and cindy thalheimer

Buenos, (typical greeting)

We first want to say lo sentimos, we are sorry, for not writing for so long. These last few months have been months of many challenges and it just seemed that we could not get the time to write. However, during this time we knew that prayers were being said on our behalf and for that weus want to say gracias, thank you!
We love all of you,
John and Cindy

Our Visit to the States

In Mid May we returned to the states where map we were able to see so many of you but unfortunately we were not able to see all of you. Our time in the states was spent visiting family, friends and local churches and getting all of the documents necessary to start our residency process here in Costa Rica. Getting all of the documents proved to be a big challenge. Our documents needed to have Apostle Seals put on them by 4 different states. So we had to order new documents from these 4 different states and then once we received them we had to turn around and send them back to the state that they come from to get the seal put on them. The reason that we had to do this was because you order the documents from one department and then the seal has to be put on by a different department. Of course these departments are in different parts of the states so it was necessary to mail everything. In fact, we did not receive the last document until the day that we were leaving for Atlanta. Whew that was close but then God is always on time!!!

Return To Costa Rica

On July 10, we were finally able to return home to Costa Rica. It felt so good to be back. First, we had to go shopping, as we left absolutely nothing in our apartment. So off to Wal-Mart we went. Yes, we do have Wal-Marts here and they are very similar to the ones in the states as you can do one stop shopping. We do prefer to shop in the La fiera’s here, (this is where the locals shop) as they are much cheaper, but you can’t buy paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap etc. so you have to shop in a store for certain items. Then it was time to do a little cleaning. Thankfully our sweet landlady, Myra, cleaned our apartment a little before we arrived so we didn’t have as much to do. Then we had to go to the lawyer’s office to get the paperwork for our car. We want to thank everyone that donated to our car fund as it really has made life easier here. Then we had to shop for car insurance, which is a very interesting process here and then health insurance. On top of all of that we have felt that it is time for us to return to language school so we had to shop around for a language school that would fit our needs. Wow is all we can say as it has been a very busy few weeks here and that does not even count the days that we go to the streets and minister to the prostitutes there.

car

A big thank you to all that contributed to our car fund We are now able to get to all areas of Costa Rica.

Speaking of ministry time, when we left Costa Rica we had been working with Freedom Street Ministries and when we returned to Costa Rica we found that many changes had taken place with Freedom Street. The biggest change was that the leader had stepped down. The former leader has decided to start her own ministry away from YWAM and would now like us to be a part of that. However, the current leaders of Freedom Street want us to work with them too. SO, we are praying for God’s direction as to what He wants us to do. Please be praying for us and to hear clearly as to what He wants us to do.
There are a few things that we know for sure.

    • We are to return to language school so as of Monday, August 5th we will be returning to school. We found a great school that will tailor the program to our needs and in fact one of our class days will be going to the streets with our instructor. How cool is that?

    • For the time being we are to continue going to the streets with Freedom Street and to do a prayer vigil on Friday nights outside the Del Rey.

Prayer Requests

  • For clarity on direction of residency process

  • For our finances- things here are very expensive

  • For our son’s job

  • For safety and health of ourselves and our family

  • Whether it is time to move and get a bigger place
