Time in the States
We pray that this latest news finds you doing very well and that you are having a wonderful summer with family and friends. It is hard to believe that summer is almost over and time for a new school year to begin. Wow where has all of the time gone.
John and I had a very busy trip back to the states. We were blessed to have time with family and friends and we also had many meetings while stateside to share about what we are doing here in Costa Rica. We had a wonderful time with our home church, Wellspring Revival Center, it is always so good to share with our family there. They always lift us up when we are home and for this we are truly grateful. We also had the honor of speaking at New Covenant Church in Tifton, GA. This was our very fist time speaking here. We have many friends at NCC, so it was great to see them all again. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to see everyone while we were home and for that we are sorry, but hopefully we will see you on our next trip back to the states.
Saying Goodbye
While we were stateside we found out that we had lost a dear missionary friend of ours. Her name was Tamara Frizzell and she was only 55 years old. Tamara and her husband Frankie where planning on coming to Costa Rica to help us out for a few months. We were completely shocked by the news and she will be greatly missed. Tamara was a great part of what we do here in Costa Rica. She would call us to see how we were doing and to pray for us and to encourage us. Those conversations will be greatly missed, but we know that she is having a great time at the feet of Jesus and we will get to see her one day again.
We have started a special fund in honor of our friend. The fund is called the Freedom Fund and all funds that are given will be used to help buy food for our local feeding programs. We call it Freedom Fund because Tamara had a heart to see people of all ages set free from bondage. You can click here to donate and please mark that it is for Freedom Fund.
Please pray for Frankie,Tamara's husband and all of her family as they are dealing with their loss.
Back In Costa Rica
We arrived back home on July 22 and are really excited to be back in Costa Rica. We have had the honor of having our pastor's daughter, Erin, come back with us. Since we have been in the states for a month we needed to do all of our grocery shopping and Erin got to see that since we don't have a Wal-Mart we must shop at all of the stores in town and the neighboring towns to try and get stocked back up. What takes a few hours for you guys exactly takes us a few days. Our great missionary friends here Paul & Vicky Young cooked us a wonderful meal and then sent some food home with us so we didn't have to go shopping right away. This was truly a blessing for us and it was great to get unpacked first and then do the shopping the next day.
We also have completed another bean and rice distribution since being back. This distribution was sponsored by our precious children at Wellspring Revival Center. The children had been saving money for us and presented it to us while we were home. These children really touched our hearts and what a wonderful thing to see children helping out children.
It was so great to see the children again and to see the smiles on their faces because we are continuing to come back. Erin taught them a lesson on God's promises and then they colored a rainbow to remind them of His promises. The children just love to do activities like this and they are so eager to show us their work. We just love seeing the smiles of happiness on their faces. Slowly, we are building relationships with them and are excited about our next project that we are doing here.
We bet that you are wondering what our next project is? Well, In about a week we will be doing our first distribution of cooked food in this barrio. We will be giving the children a meal starting once a week and then slowly building it up to six times a week. We are gratefully that Erin is here to help us with this first distribution of cooked food. We are in the learning process of how best to do this so we are gratefully to have an extra set of hands around as we prepare food for a bunch of children.
Lastly, our cleaning lady has lost a job that she has had for the last 5 years. She lost her job due to circumstances beyond her control. She has been an integral part in helping us work in the barrio that God wants us to work in so we have been praying about hiring her to work with us. Please join with us in prayer as we hear from God on what we should do here. If you would like more information about the cost to hire her please send us an email.
WIth God ALL things are possible. Matt 19:26.
Lots of love and Blessings,
John & Cindy
